Is Cold Emailing HRs for Open Positions Ethical? Does It Actually Work?

Hi folks, I wanted to understand the general ethics and effectiveness of cold emailing HRs / recruiters for open positions in their companies. A few questions I had:

  1. Is it considered okay / professional to directly mail HRs for relevant openings?

  2. Does cold emailing actually work in practice, or is it mostly ignored?

  3. Is it better to reach out to HR, recruiters, or hiring managers?

Any tips on how to do it the right way without coming across as spammy?

Would love to hear from people who have tried this or from anyone in HR / hiring roles. Thanks in advance! 🙌

Just shoot the email with a nice body and a crisp CV + cover letter. Nothing to lose. You anyway aren’t getting that job any other way are you?

Else best scout on LinkedIn and familiar 2/3rd degree connects or even here and ask them to put a referral. Employees get referral bonus sometimes.

Ethics, HR, & Companies... three words in same sentences make no meaning.

Companies want to hire the cheapest labor for their work. Managers want to hire people to make their life better/improve their resumes. HR wants to close the open positions as early as possible.

This is a give and take situation. In matters of mutual benefit, there are no ethical rules.
