Is business logic inside the stored procedure a common thing for Indian IT projects?

Presently working in the legacy application where all the business logic inside stored procedure. Learning a lot of SQL, no doubt about it. But I am a little curious to know is it a common thing in the Indian It industry?

I used to be a freelance developer before this job, but during my 4.5 years of freelancing development I used to put business logic in the application layer. And only used to create stored procedures for performance critical use cases.
