Is ATS score for resume mandatory?

I have come across some people asking for ATS compliance resume. Is it mandatory to have ATS score as 80? I have generated the resume from AI. After that, I have done some modifications. Then ATS score is 75. Whatever I do, ATS score is not moving past 75. Same thing I asked some of my friends, they don't even know what is ATS.
