Is Atlassian a good choice?

I know right now no company in the world is safe for tech, but off late I’m hearing a lot of bad things about Atlassian. I’ve heard that they hire and fire and put employees on PIP for the most absurdest things. Is this true? I’m worried because Atlassian is offering a substantial pay hike and I don’t know if I should even shift given the instability!

Having heard from a few close friends (SDE 2 and Principal Engineer), it's most toxic it has ever been. Even Amazon folks can't tolerate it. Only because of the compensation few people are not switching. Or else, you will see ~1 year job hops frequently across levels

Atlassian’s culture varies by team, but here’s the reality check:

Pros: Strong pay, great tech stack, and impactful products (Jira/Confluence)

Cons: Some teams report aggressive PIP culture—research your specific org (ask "What’s the promo-to-PIP ratio?" in interviews)

Before joining: Check Blind/Glassdoor for recent team reviews Negotiate a severance clause in your offer (e.g., 3-month payout if PIP’d in first year)

My friend got PIPed from Atlassian last month, he is a brilliant coder and frequently told us about everything he used to do. They are just hiring to firing, If you have a good role currently with ok WLB ( because good wlb is non existent now) I wouldn’t switch.

Don’t risk if you’ve a choice otherwise go and find out. Someone mentioned it started after CTO got changed.

Product based companies are either laying off or having toxic culture. Why people spend so much time doing dsa and all, instead focus on skills and get good package in service based companies lol
