Is asking questions a flaw?

I joined Big 4 11 months ago. Recently, I learned that during a colleague’s conversation with our manager, it was indirectly mentioned that I might not be “sharp” because I ask too many questions. This made me reflect: • Is curiosity a flaw? • Is seeking clarity a sign of incompetence?

In my experience, asking questions has always been a way to gain deeper insights, avoid assumptions, and deliver with precision. It helps in understanding not just what needs to be done but also why it matters. I believe that a culture where questions are encouraged fosters learning, collaboration, and innovation.

To all professionals out there—have you ever faced similar feedback? Do you feel asking more questions makes you less capable, or does it make you more informed and effective?

You may be really good.. but there is a very thin line between curiosity and fool. You might not be asking relevant questions, or you might be asking obvious question that can be googled.

Heyy, I am asking about the project and not getting any relevant response. I joined this project 2 months ago and there was no KT.
