Is AI making us braindead? Had a revelation.
So, had this revelation today that "Reels" and "GenAI" have completely ruined my ability to focus and think, and my ADHD is making it worse.
I have always been a haramkhor anxious kid, looking up ways to complete the task with minimum effort and without any actual learning, and had mental barrier issues and ultimately gave up.
Pre-2020 (in my school days), I didn't have this give-up attitude to everything in life, obviously there were few exceptions - I would at least give a thought to every problem statement and try to solve it before looking up described solutions.
I know, this isn't the best way for learning and brain development, and it cost me JEE, but even then I used to put some effort into thinking, organizing my thoughts, and structuring them, but now!
It's even hard for me to have an out-of-the-blue (catching me off guard) conversation without a moment of brain freeze, causing lag issues.
In a recent interview, I was well prepared, had given a simple mock, but couldn't answer a GTM question and a simple guesstimate question properly with the proper approach and all!
I have a framework, whatever the question, just try to break it into points via cross-questioning, and during the interview, the framework struck, but I wasn't able to apply it.
Though I need more practice, but even practice needs reinforced learning parameters!
Watching reels has finished my attention span, and using GPT for every query has induced a more laid-back, give-up-and-search-the-existing-solution attitude.
It's not like I have completely given up thinking, but I can't perform under pressure. Even if you ask me my name, I might lag on off-the-guard questions. I need time and my space to process and understand things.
Even at meetings, I am not able to understand at once, I've gotta watch the recording, refer to notes, and then understand.
How do I actually cure it?
I have been botching my interviews due to that, even though I have good enough experience and skills (hopefully).
Feeling like Lando Norris in F1 2024 with his McLaren.
