Is a 1 crore package worth switching jobs every 2 years?

Since the job switch hike can never be matched by a promotion within the same org at least in India, Is frequent job-hopping the key to maximizing earnings?

What are the potential downsides of job-hopping every two years?

For those who have stayed longer at one company, how has your compensation growth compared?

Do you think switching jobs frequently is sustainable in the long term?

Don't worry, 50% is a minimum hike. It all depends on how better you sell yourself

Here's my trajectory: 0.00: 3 lpa
00.6: 3.6 lpa 0.10: 10 lpa(switch) 1.00: 10 lpa(switch because of layoffs) 2.1: 27 lpa(switch)

Where are u getting 27 lpa at 2. Can you also mention what technology do you work in? Example Salesforce, ...

It would set you up for disappointment if you extrapolate like this. Salary jumps do not work this way beyond the first few years. Don't let a couple of years of ZIRP phenomenon distort your reality.

Heres my trajectory: Yoe vs pay post switch 0: 9lpa 1.1: 20lpa( switch) 3.5: 48lpa(switch)

Can you share the company name and role details for the previous two switches? That's very impressive bro

CosmicNarwhal

How much experience do you have? You don't get 50% hike in pay willy nilly just because you are making a jump.
You also need to be competent enough so the company feels it can derive more value from you than what they are paying.

And at more senior roles, the ones which pay the high salaries that you mention, you need to have decision making skills which include long term vision. Something that is difficult to have if you keep switching often.

FluffyWaffle

With great pay comes great responsibility. You need to act smart here and also judge the org's capability to pay you and switch accordingly.
As I mentioned the hike compared to a switch shall no more be near to a promotion hike. If it is - you're good to go

ZippyPancake

Incorrect math aside, a consistent 50% hike over 14 years every two years looks unrealistic to me(might be true for the first few years but unlikely later on). As your base becomes high, it will be harder to get the same kind of hike. Very few people can provide that kind of value to justify such high hikes

Best case scenario presented

It depends I'd say, I took a 200% hike when I joined, so I skipped a few in the chart
