9-9-6 can be justified if the company actually serves the nation (like China)
Most of the companies in india are serving USA/Europe becoming backoffices so that onshore employees can chill and do R&D,
Most of the work in india are dumb no R&D just CRUD.
Simple truth is ,this - India is trying to grow at time when most developed Western countries are focusing on work-life balance. But the reality is that any nation becomes developed only when its people work at their peak, especially when the population is young.
The problem here is that many big companies expect 12-hour workdays without any changes in wages. Better solution might be to shift to pay hourly, plenty of people are willing to work, as long as they’re paid for the time they put in.
That's a very good approach but the problem is every project has a budget and Indian manager underestimate the budget to grab the project which is why something like this is not possible in product based companies but maybe good for service based
I think most big product-based companies are already paying pretty well by Indian standards but if they are increasing work hr officeally then they can add extra incentives. The real issue is with smaller, bootstrapped companies where budgets are tight. But for service-based companies, an hourly pay model could definitely work.
I would love to see the Payslips getting adjusted to the same. While providing Infra by Government.

In startups it is seen as a badge of honour. Till they turn 30, lonely, and burnt out.
Top mgmt is typical top mgmt. They make the millions. Thats how they behave.

Even if we do adopt to 996, with higher pay, it will not help our purchasing power as housing market will inflate more, and service providers will continue increasing their price.. So same lifestyle and asset building stress for increased work pressure and less work life balance . If govt wants it to use the working age group, it is high time for cost regulation.
