Is 2L more in base worth it for 5 days WFO?
I made similar post recently but wasn't aware of the RTO policy, today I confirmed. I have two offers: Offer 1 (3 days WFO) : 16.10L base + 2.26L var (1.75L for the first year) + 1L JB Offer 2 (4 days WFO but soon to be 5 days) : 18L base + 1L PF + bonus (0-11%)
Current TC: 16.5L base + 1.65L var + 5L RSU YOE: 1.5

The correct question should be is switching for this small hike worth it?

@a_normal_boy I have been with my current company for only five months. I am based in Bangalore and my current company is in Chennai. I couldn't relocate leaving my parents hence decided to resign only after five months. So the hikes are minimal.

Not much difference if you consider the total CTC. And chances are even the first company will soon move to 4-5 days working in office. So, look for work culture, leaves and flexibility.
Just wondering, is the 2nd company Pure Storage?

Pure isn't hiring for such less yoe

try to get full WFH sacrificing 1 lac from var. , you will thank me later 😁
If you feel to disclose, But why are you switching job with a very small hike?

@ignitorconso Have been with my current company for only five months. I am based in Bangalore and my current company is in Chennai. I couldn't relocate leaving my parents hence decided to resign only after five months. So the hikes are minimal.
Good decision. Parents should always the top priority. Best of luck man!!
Your cuurent base in 16.5 but the new offe 1 is for 16.10? Why low balling?
WFH or WFO depends on your preference. A strict 5 day rule can obviously be very difficult if you saty far from home town (because if not, you will have to take leaves to visit your parents for 3-4 day. If wfh is allowed you can visit home whenever you want) or the distance between your house and office is more. Even if you live close by and in your home town a strict policy can be a bit hectic but one can get used to it if the office culture and wfo is fun enough.

@MeanParser I have been with my current company for only five months. I am based in Bangalore and my current company is in Chennai. I couldn't relocate leaving my parents hence decided to resign only after five months. So the hikes are minimal.
Okay, makes sense. So these 2 new offers are from Bangalore? If yes, i think 5 days wfo should not be a big problem
Company name bro of offer 1 and offer 2? Will help to analyse work culture

@Leonadis Offer 1- Morgan Stanley. Offer 2 - Oracle
Join oracle if you want work from home. I have few of my friends working in Oracle and all of them have been enjoying complete work from home.
Join Morgan Stanley if you want good brand name on resume.
Personal suggestion: go with Oracle.
No man, you will lose the flexibility of wfh. Even I thought I can do wfo 5 days but damn, I left the startup after 3 months.
I will not switch to wfo for such small hike.

@techtorty I am not switching due to the hike, I have been with my current company in Chennai for only five months. However, I didn't like living in Chennai and couldn't leave my parents, so I decided to resign
I would say if ur getting 2 lacs more, u can always shift closer to office even with a rent of say 45k -50k per month and walk to office saving u transport cost, its still worth it cos you’ll get about 1.5 lacs more.. it does make a difference!
And walking to office everyday isnt a bad thing. Just show ur face for a few hours and get back home before lunch or whatever ur convenience is..
i use this thought- it saves travel time, it saves transport cost even though u pay higher rent, you can offset it with these points. I’m paying a rent of 38k for 2bhk including maintenance.. and walk to office so technically in my head/ mindset I’m paying rent of 30k and 8k of transport & maintanance convenience.
Also there are other positives of staying close to office, u get that extra time to do what u want, even if u have to waste the time, u feel ok cos ur not stuck in traffic. Or sometimes use it to play a game/ hit the gym/ or to upskill as well.. lot of possibilities..
i know bangalore rents have hit the roof, but if u have the money use it to ur leverage.. u still get to save the balance of the 2 lacs whatever remains..
if i were in your shoes, I would take the extra 2 lacs.
Don't take any...give it to me
