Unpopular opinion:

IPL has become a pollution of cricket. Only entertainment and quick money matter nothing else.

It has a hero worshipping vibes like Bhai Jaan and other South Indian movies where only heroes matter.

It matters for those who are trying to get entry to national team by playing well, only Ranji performance won’t give an opportunity. Some players already give priority to IPL over national team because they know that even if they get the place in team, it would be hard to make it lasting.

Stop watching IPL and do something productive.

another reason I strongly despise the IPL is its aggressive promotion of betting apps. Dream11, my11circle, and numerous other betting companies are shelling out crores to endorse their platforms. And who pays the price? Our nation's youth

Cricket in general has gone downhill then
Icc event frequency is too much
Many players don't bother with national contacts & play for leagues instead
Pitches getting more batter friendly
Toss factor decides games too much

Because we used to watch it in a group or even if we watched it alone, we would meet our friends after the match to discuss it. We're old now

For me, it stopped ever since I stepped out of college. IPL days used to be extreme fun during college hostel days. The enmity we grow because of the teams we support, the celebrations and embarassment following the win or lose of your fav team. Everyone sharing the same laptop / mobile to watch. Those were the days. I guess IPL is more enjoyable when watched in crowd. I don't feel the excitement anymore.

Treating cricketers like next to God is my personal reason to dislike it. Commentators should be neutral and talk logically and practical. Tired of listening to Virat and Dhoni’s greatness. Mahi maar raha hai, thala, King Kohli…

I have been saying this to my friends since it started, but nobody believed me and started to compare with football clubs.

if something was born just because of entertainment and money it will suck the life out of the real thing. Nowadays I watch highlights after the game is finished and only interested in Test matches.
