In conclusion though ETFs are considered safe generally We should always diversify and keep the max portion at the safe instrument while at least 15%-20% being kept as liquid.

What do you mean by safe instrument and liquid here?
Do you mean 80-85% should be physical gold and 15-20% should be ETF?

Safe instruments- Those are regulated by SEBI like Liquid MF, Gold Bees and discontinued SVG bonds
To answer the second question it actually depends on your circumstances how secure your gold saving vault is or willingness to pay for gold lockers, If you want to pay GST and wastages, if you want to buy for special occasions and personal interest. But in general you have to be diverse by not keeping all the eggs in the same basket apart from gold there are other instruments like sliver, copper, stocks, ELSS tax saver MF ,FDs, land parcels and investing in own businesses in an increased value of liquid cash that one owns respectively. Typically only 10-20% or at least 2-5 lakhs should be kept as liquid to grab opportunity and backup the emergency funds.

Any specific reason for choosing gold coins and bars over digital gold?

Generally Digital gold is not regulated by any government laws. In the event of a website being hacked, data breach or data loss the given website shall not be liable to pay you any amount which puts your investment to zero. Moreover some popular digital gold investment platforms like PAMP MTC only allow you to save for a certain period after which you shall take delivery or redeem the wallet which is why ETF or Mutual funds are commonly right choice
