Just out of curiosity, what are the merits of investing thru GIFT city over investing via brokers such as Vested or INDMoney?

Using those brokers you can invest in individual US stocks like Google, Microsoft, Nvidia etc.

Mutual fund are overrated investment products. Anything that's marketed to the middle class is scam. Better returns are available else where Most people see the advts of 15% 30% returns on some MF's. There are over 4000 MF's we see the return of may be top 20.

A simple google search will show in Japan mutual fund return between 1990 to 2010 was negative to zero. Between 2010 to 2020 was 7%.

Mutual funds work as long as market goes up. When they fall, the fall in NAV is faster than the fall in market. Whether there is any return or not, the MF will charge its processing fee/porfolio fee. They stand to benefit, we dont. For the rich it is fine. For the middle class its meaningless risk.

Waiting for Zerodha support for this. GIFT city will be a game changer for international exposure - the mutual funds won't be limited to the RBI limit if I understand correctly.

Yes, but the minimum investment is $5,000 which is beyond the reach of the common man
