Interview entitlement or not ?!!!!!

Hey folks,

Was recently hiring for an exciting role, and had decent candidates submit their details for the job.

Had attached a detailed JD about the role and the company and had mentioned all the necessary links.

Despite that, 90% of candidates didnt even care to go through the company website before turning up for the first interview.

And when questionned, expected me to walk them through the company.

Why even apply for a role you arent interested in!!!!!

I want to know what was so exciting about that role?

Even if role isnt exciting, its basic etiquette to research about a company before applying

so you are pissed that you will have to do your job and introduce your company to the candidate?

See, basically it's a two way street! While it's not wrong to expect this from a candidate, it's also your responsibility to let the candidate know why they should choose your organization over others.

While you can expect from candidates, its not necessary that they will meet your expectation to research the role and company before appearing for the interview. You may choose to not hire such candidates.

Now, if you do want to hire one or more of them for their talents and experience, then you should provide the walk-through they wanted.
