Infinite things to learn. How to narrow it down to the bare essentials?

Since there are infinite things you could know about in SWE/ Your tech stack. As a beginner how do you restrict yourself with common denominator(s) in all of its use-cases. Like how do I narrow it down to which topics I MUST know before applying?

Good question. Just build your project /complete your tasks . Learn whatever terms you encounter in the depth that is must have .

Right but how do I know when to pull myself out because each term in itself is a massive rabbit hole, if you know what I mean. Or let me rephrase, when doing as you suggest, to what depth I go to?
