Will an Indian be on the forefront of the AI revolution, possible. Even likely.

Will it be from India? No. Never. The WITCH companies with their bulky cash reserves do not spend much on innovative projects. When big boys do not do, it won't happen.

Because its nowhere close to the tech the other countries have built.

Maybe not at the foundational model layer since Indian VCs are not “true VCs” but rather seek some sort of validation or “traction” but we can do great stuff at infra and application layer.

Need risk takers for foundational layer level, VCs in India will mostly refrain from backing and this later needs capital; have a friend working on the same; plus one needs to seriously evaluate if (a) they can make a better model - maybe be vertical, thats ok, or (b) if they can make an at par cheaper model - again, vertical is ok.

2 cents

Indians see's a new thing abroad, they tries hard to earn it---
If before they succeed a foreign player enters it They leaves it and plays dumb for years. After a huge gap they bounces back... Same with industrial revolution, Infra, Metro etc

Because Indians are not "builders". Scene is changing though with the startups.

We are too busy making our life better by whatever means. Which in turn means "using" other people's stuff. We are good at customizing, moulding it to suit out needs, but innovation culture, risk taking culture is still lacking in India.

I might be wrong here. My 2 cents.

What's the difference between the first and the third point?

GigglyDonut
GigglyDonut

The key difference is that the first option is a direct agreement (with a hint of doubt), while the third option is more about faith in India's tech community rather than a firm prediction.

The Third option expresses confidence in India's technological ecosystem, implying that the country has the potential due to its tech culture, but doesn't necessarily state outright that India will be ahead in the AI race.
