I'd say Depends on company size . I'm in a company where the architect is in 5-6 projects.

And every time we need his help , we have to go through the process of helping him understand why we need to do what we think. Then he fights with us with his theoretical concept of what's right when he doesn't have any clue about what the business requirements are.

Along with us actually developing the product , we have one more task , which is making him understand what the task is.
