For me particularly who uses AI majorly in every day tasks. Most of thing has improved learning has gotten way faster as compared to traditional Google searches and documentation. I am majorly doing google searches with AI as well. I use combo of AI tools.
But as a SDE i still believe it has lot to work on and no way near that it will take the job atleast for tech. I know there are cursor/ windsurf / claude desktop blah blah. And I used all of them. I could say one thing for sure yes they are really good and helpful. But only if you know how to do it by yourself. If you don't know how to do it you will have a great moment until you encounter a error, which AI couldnt't solve then the real problem starts , it won't say that he can't do it. He will make your life becomes hell to the point you don't Even want to code. Yes i know all sort of rules (custom rules and project rules )and all that thing and I use them but i experienced this multiple times. And for past few days I have stopped relying heavily on AI. It may seem that I am doing a moronic shit by not utilising AI but I have seen both the best and worst of AI, where he did the great jobs, and the worst where he messed up the codebase badly when he don't know the solution. By my experience the best candidate for jobs will be the person who knows the limit of LLM not like dumb be who tried to push the limit and got my code base messed up without problem being solved. And have knowledge of different tools which LLM can use to give better results
