Ravana was a rapist. Sita was just kidnapped, but he had already raped several women before that. If you analyze long enough, there could be goodness in every criminal.

I think Rape is too far an allegation. He knew the boundaries between ego and lust. A true Shiv bhakt wouldn't do such a thing

@BiryaniEnthu it's amazing that people play apologism for a rapist and a cannibal. It's fine to watch teleseries to get a high level picture of ramayan, not cool to take that as scholarly representation of valmiki's work. It's not my interpretation versus your interpretation. It's typical of liberals to misrepresent original Hindu religious text and say it's "my interpretation" when challenged, much like Devdutt Patnaik wrote rubbish called "My Gita". Valmiki unambiguously refers to Ravan as evil minded and a cannibal. In fact, Vedavati committed Jauhar to escape rape by Ravana, much like Rajput women did to escape Mughals. In the entire Valmiki Ramayan, there is only one reference to Ravana worshipping Shiva.

If it's as good as story for liberals, they can just stfu. Not required to poke their nose in things they have no clue about and then go about defending it as my interpretation versus your interpretation. Your interpretation is incorrect and deliberate misrepresentation. And for you to pitch into things you don't care about is just malicious and dishonest.

There is no mention that he was the greatest shiv bhakt anywhere in Valmiki Ramayan. That he composed Shiv tandav stotram finds no mention in Valmiki Ramayan. He had done certain tapasya and gained certain powers. That's all. He was a serial rapist before he abducted Sita. The only reason he did not rape Sita was because of a shaap. All these find clear mention in Valmiki Ramayan. It's not a matter of interpretation. If you want to discuss Ravan, you must discuss Valmiki Ramayan.

I have no idea @DaringTrain, we didn't go against community guidelines for sure

@Ambani007 I'm not getting into this. The Ramayana you read and refer are all translated and interpreted versions. You can never confirm what original texts read
