I'm planning to sell my apartment in Bangalore

I own an apartment ( 3bhk ) in Nagarbhavi. The place is nice and cozy ( ~2km away from the metro, on the main road etc )

I feel I'm better off renting out a smaller place rather than owning a house in Bangalore. I'm planning to invest the money in my hometown ( which is a city very close to Bangalore )

Am I thinking in the right direction? I'm currently working remotely, but even if I switch and I have to find a place, I think I'd rather rent.
