I’m overindexed on equities - is real estate a viable hedge?
Hey Viners,
I’m 30M, Single. My current portfolio is 1Cr. With 90% in equity (stocks + mutual funds) and 5% debt and 5% metals (gold and silver etf)
Recently I’ve been reading about how it’s a very real likelihood of a global stock market correction because of the following factors:
- Post covid money printing- most countries have been printing money to spur economic growth. But a lot of that money has gone into stock markets
- Unserviceable Debt - Globally 300T dollar loan by countries against 100T GDP
- AI Bubble - fomo driven funding by retail and institutional investors. Most companies are extremely overvalued (100x PE)
I am considering investing at least 20-30% in real estate, but 20Lakhs is a fairly small ticket size in real estate.
Looking for advice to navigate this.

super interested in knowing how u built a 1cr portfolio by 30. Would be great if you can share some tips for me - 25M, 5L portfolio

Magic of compounding :) just aim to make 20% a year
I’ve put 70% of my salary as a SIP. Starting from my first job till date.
For the longest time I only had mutual funds. Then in 2021 I started with direct stocks with 1-2 lakhs. Built confidence over time. Last year I withdrew half my MF portfolio and and started selecting companies myself. This year I’m aiming to make 30% on my stock portfolio. MF have been slower at 11%.
