IIT background biasness in Shark Tank

Just noticed this pattern while binge watching Shark Tank. Is it still prevalent for IIT graduates to get advantage in life over non IIT graduates.

I would not change anything from my past to get an IIT tag, so far I've lived a happy fulfilling life.

Yes, a recent Blume report showed how Tier 1 grad startups offer much higher probability of better returns. But for an IIT grad to go to sharktank for funding feels like a bad choice.
