Bring in revenue. Making money is super important to keeping your employees happy. Some employees will understand you and stick with you for a while but they have families too. And it is your responsibility to ensure that they get paid on time so that they can take care of themselves.

+1... totally agree. but from a practical standpoint, i have seen business only lose money when they actually try to keep employees happy. The company remains profitable only if the employees remain miserable.
