There is no bigger myth than this. Owning a house make sense only if one has a good corpus, or high free cash flow. If not, one will easily end up buying a smaller house or a house to suit their "budget". Owning a house, comes with more restrictions that no one knows until they own a property. Its an anchor. It would limit our ability to move, especially today, when switching companies is the only way to get a decent hike. Finding a tenant is a bigger headache. If one is unlucky, he/she might end up with a bad tenant. That headache is worse than dealing with rouge landlords.

If staying on rent is working for the landlord, then working a salaried job is earning for someone else.

If you buy a home on loan, you're working for your bank.

Not quite logical. If you’re going on a holiday, are you working for the hoteliers and cabbies? I mean sure you’re paying them money, but it’s important to distinguish the dog from it’s tail
