If you are an Interviewer, did your company ever teach you "how to interview a candidate" ?

context:

Interviewing someone is a skill, not everyone is good at it, in fact in my experience 70%+ people are bad at it.

Yes, you might be a bad interviewer, someone didn't get a job because you don't know what to do.

It's not about copying a random question from the internet and wondering whether a candidate can solve it or not.

Every candidate is different, your scale to measure everyone can't be the same.

No wonder third party interviewing companies exist and are earning a lot of money.

The good thing is that this skill can be taught. Every company works with different ideology, they should have their unique interview process

If companies want candidates to put efforts, they also need to put effort into their interview process.

How do you interview? Were you taught? Or are you living in a bubble with your ego ?

I realised I am a bad interviewer - questions, profiling, judgement

Company did a masterclass with a top EV sector HR (20+ YOE)

Now I don't complicate it much Start with introduction to self, Company, and why the role is open Ask direct basic questions Some scenario based questions for traits we are looking for in the team

Yes, in my first company which is an MNC I got a detailed training and had to undergo several mock interviewer tests before being certified to conduct interviews. However, other 2 MNC companies that I have worked with have absolutely no trainings and qualities of interviewers is very low

This is a beautiful, eye opening post for all those egotistical interviewers. Especially the ones who got in because of the good interviewers and now interview in their place
