IBM Bench policy

Hi, I am working in IBM. My project was discontinued so I do not have any project at the moment. How long can I be on bench without affecting my performance or growth? What is the IBM bench policy?

Pressure of bench policies in the companies are too much now-a-days. You cracked the interviews and get the offer letter but until or unless you are given some project, you can’t sit with peace in mind. The IBM bench policy is for 3 months. In this kind of situations, it is very important to be active—look for new project tenders announcements and take some courses or get some qualification. Be stress free and stand out in the crowd. If the bench period gets longer, usually there is a risk of being placed on the PIP or getting fired due lack of projects, which feels disgusting.

If this happens, search for any potential positions and reach out to managers for assistance. Do not lose hope and fight till end

I can imagine how helpless it feels being on bench. IBM bench policy is 3 month I think! Usually, one is given like three months before it begins affecting your performance rating. If you have been benched for too long, you may get a PIP or even fired, so continue to engage managers and growing within the organisation. It feels difficult, but being active and learning new things now will benefit you at a higher post in the coming years!

i can feel you bro. once I was unexpectedly on the bench at IBM after a project was cancelled. The IBM bench policy allows employees to remain on the bench for 3 months but it can be extended if you talk to the managers. typically a few weeks to a few months, you should try to get into a project or at least be very visible in the system. That's what worked for me. I went to different managers on a daily basis talking about my skillset and all. I got into a salesforce project in 2.5 months.
