I was taken as a Python Developer, but placed me in the support team.
I joined TCS as a fresher in 2023. I was taken as a python developer (since my skills are in deep learning and data science).
They kept me on the project bench for nearly 6 months and I was dumb for believing all fake promises from the delivery partner.
Later they asked me to get trained on a tool - which is completely irrelevant with python, but I gave my best since I was not able to say NO.
Gave interview on this tool nearly 7 times - while there was no requirement in the developer team at all.
Finally they pushed me into operations teams (without my consent) where all I do was monitoring data. I was requesting for release since DAY 1 in the operations team. The work is also stressful since it requires continuous monitoring.
And the most irritating part is - the delivery partner is still giving the fake promises - telling that I will be taken out of this project after the bla bla bla situation (heard soo many reasons).
I am still trying for release, but not even getting appropriate response from the top level members in the team. And I am unable to find openings for ML/Data Science/Gen AI roles with my experience. What can I do now?
Now the ai.cloud unit will be dissolved horizontally to all the units with effect from April 25
So try to to be in any development projects where your skills will be honoured.

Why will it be dissolved. Whats the reason and how do you know it.
Fact that @FreeLap mentioned the AI.cloud unit (even when I didn't mention it), shows that this unit is even more sick than my expectations/experienceš„²
What is the tech stack u are placed under ? Unit ?
Most of lateral joiners also endup in same situation, they hire you for something and push you whereever they feel like, most realise after being trapped.
This is a structural problem with TCS that company itself acknowledge, due to nature of business is body shopping, clients can select a body to utilize it, Strategically TCS bids 99.9% of time only for simple support projects for easy money when done at scale, so that any resource can take up any support task.
TCS by itself very rarely bid for development project due to complexity and resource scarcity etc, they just simply say its development project and push you to same support projects.
Same thing happened to me, rmg forced me to join a support project and delivery Manager is promising me to provide me a developer role but not saying exactly when,I am frustrated too š„¹
If you work they won't leave you, don't work they will leave you earlier
Don't work you don't have any option just don't do anything thing don't attend metting and calls by the way which project means name
