I was switching from Cognizant

So i was trying to switch and recently got a call from a firewall company Watchguards. They make their own firewalls and provide support, I had my interview scheduled and gave it. After that 1st round I called them for my feedback after few days and they said “Yes you have cleared for the 2nd round”. And now after 2 weeks they are saying your feedback was not okay hence won’t be able to take it further. Why these companies have to lie?
