"I was not aware"?!! There have been multiple mails sent my the HR over the past few months asking employees to report to office. Were you not aware abt this as well?

Try not to work on weekend. Or take comp off for weekend work. Simple. You always have authority to say no to weekend work. It's just that how much you are working on weekend .
