I want to ask something that's been on my mind for a long time. Does TCS really have the best Health insurance? I've heard other big MNCs also do provide good insurance to their employees. Can anyone please shed some light on this?

Nothing like that. Most of the MNCs are providing same and some even better. This is false narrative

Some even better? Hm, there is practically no reason to stay in this Org anymore.

TCS offers good health insurance. The process is simple and fast. After completing 1 year you will be enrolled in TCS health foundation as well. It has many benefits.

What is tcs health foundation?

It's TCS internal health trust. They provide you extra funds if it exceeds the medical insurance.

My previous organization had much better insurance policy than tcs, they were giving parents insurance also at free of cost. The covered amount was much more than tcs.

If you have elderly people dependent on you, then I would suggest not to depend on TCS' health insurance. It is better to go for separate health insurance outside. Tcs guys don't even respond properly when it is an emergency.

TCS Health Insurance was highly comprehensive and with a touch of high job security it was golden. But all of that is fast changing, and now they even introduced copay. Things are going to get worse.

There is no longer any reason to hold on to TCS for this. Switch with the first opportunity.

Do you mean Tata welfare trust? TCS foundation is an NGO. Whereas Tata welfare trust provides medical support over and above your health insurance limits. It's not so straight forward and there are some ambiguous qualifying criteria, or at least unknown to me. It's a good thing though for people who face major health issues at some point in life but I am not sure if it covers family as well. We do contribute to Tata welfare trust I think annually out of payroll. A nominal amount.

Moreover these insurance policies cover only a certain section of operations, diseases etc with thousands of terms and conditions

Isn't that the same for all insurances or the Tcs health insurance is more bound by these policies?

I must mention I've seen some people ending up paying unexpected money after operation.

Nothing like that bro, they have capping on every disease ... Like you can not reimburse more than 2/3 lakh for cancer kemo/immuno therapy.....

As someone who needs to use insurance regularly for his parents, I can say it's really one of the best and smoothest. The process is quick and simple. 2 plus 12 Lakhs is the equation which is great imo considering what you have to pay . Some amount in the medicine wallet as well. Network hospitals are almost all the hospitals (atleast major ones which we would prefer for a good treatment) . Support team is also reachable quiet easily. All in all, I would agree that it's really one of the top corporate insurances out there.

Ps : one of the colleagues I know had resigned but took back his resignation only to avails the insurance for one of his family members urgently for longer term... (Chemotherapy)

Current health insurance policy is nonsense. It has been becoming worse year after year. The premium increases every year while there is no change in domiciliary limits or hospitalization cover. I think this is the case forever, at least past 10 years, possibly even 15. Someone pointed out co-pay, other than that room on twin sharing for parents, base minimal A/C room for self and spouse, changes in cover limits for diseases etc. are all examples of worsening policy. I cannot compare this with other companies but this cannot be a reason to stay simply because you can buy much better policies privately with the surplus pay you would get elsewhere and still save more.
