I have done 18 long months of internship, starting when I got into 3rd year and leaving at the start of the final year.

Got the PPO but had a better offer at hand.

Was it worth it? Hell yes. I learnt so much during those 18 months, handling and building services from scratch. Hence when I started full-time, I felt myself much ahead of the SDE-1s out there.

A few engineering colleges allow for a full-year internship for students to take up in their final year

Taking up those roles after graduating is just cheap labour for the company
