I've been offered my dream job abroad, but my partner's career is taking off here in India. This opportunity could skyrocket my career, but asking my partner to relocate feels selfish. How does one prioritise and balance 2 careers?

Dreams are more important. Your partner doesn’t have to relocate till they feel the time is right. You do, even if it means short term distance.

Being a dependent, he is likely to find good opportunities once he rises in his career in India.

My two cents - If you want to optimize on starting a family or just got started, it's a no brainer to stay together. If not, considering both's current situation and the career trajectory, you can decide based on which gives the highest ROI.

You can't balance both. Need to make a choice.

I would suggest moving abroad if you plan on staying abroad long term, better quality of life.

Talk it out straight. Be assured it wont be an easy talk. But be honest and speak.

But at the backset of your mind u can keep the following. If your partner is a girl, they will all secretly if not openly drool for an abroad life. You should not let her break her career and make her feel threatened for her stability in the name of life abroad. As long as she can latch on to a career path there she will mote often than not join hands with you.

But am quite happy that u have decided to go. I cannot because of parents. Its quite scary to leave them at this stage... Mostly gonna cancel.. my wife agreed though after some resistance. It's good for her too.
