I'm a self-taught developer competing against CS grads. How do you prove your worth without the fancy degree?

My portfolio is solid, but I keep getting overlooked for lack of formal education. Has anyone broken through this barrier?

It's not the degree that counts, but the knowledge. Companies and bosses will notice if you have the relevant knowledge and skills, irrespective of the degree.

So download the Bachelors syllabus of CS from any well known university. That will give you the list of courses and topics taught during the program, and the recommended textbooks.

Now systematically download the PDF textbook of each subject semester-by-semester, and study them and supplement them with free video courses on YouTube from universities around the world.

You should be able to self-learn all the Bachelors CS knowledge doing this within 2-3 years, and after that you'll be able to easily compete with the best CS grads with fancy degrees in the industry. Good luck! 👍
