I lost my onsite opportunity

I was on the bench, looking for project opportunities. Saw a post on knome and connected with a project for onsite opportunity. Got selected. This opportunity was not from my RMG unit. Suddenly I was blocked for an open role in my own unit. I explained to them that I was selected for another opportunity and wouldn't want to pick up the role within my unit. They threatened me to write an email that I would pick the role they gave me and that I would willingly lose the onsite opportunity offered from another project. They said that this was an urgent billing role and I would be provided with onsite opportunities here.

It's been almost an year and I believe the project didn't have any demanding work until this date and no talks about any sort of career upliftment.

I mean..now I just lost hope of having a nice career in this firm. The love I had for this job is gone because of the people I have to deal with.

The so-called "will provide onsite here" is just a gimmick used by all the projects to get the employee work for low labour. Trust your skills and opportunities you get not the words of an IT manager or HR.

Onsite wont happen in 2 3 months timeline. There has to be a role vacant in onsite.

That depends on onsite managers.

I personally know many who have a stamped visa for more than a year and are still in india.

For some it is pure luck that their skillset matches a vacant role.

Unless some project already has an urgent onsite need, you cant immediately travel.

If there is no urgent need, you stay and wait for it to happen. And then suddenly they will give you 2 3 weeks to travel.

This is how it is when it comes to H1. I dont know how it works for other countries.

I understand your point. I saw a vacant role, spoke with the hiring managers, went through the interview process and got selected for the role. When everything seemed to be at the right place, my RMG unit mapped me to a vacant role within the unit, told me it's an urgent billing and forced me to withdraw from that offer from another unit. That seemed unfair to me.

Sad to see people loosing out on on-site opportunity. While writing the email you should have mentioned about their promise of onsite.
