I know its too late to decide but what should i do now?
Apologies for this long post, but I am mostly relying on Grapevine community to help me at this career crossroad. I spent almost 10+ years in operations after joining TCS but realised that i was just climbing corporate ladder without developing any real skill. I asked my BRM to involve me in something and i was given chance to work on RFP for which i managed entire flow from data collection to analysis to presentation. To my surprise, my work was appreciated and started getting more such work and i liked it doing even though i knew i am not going to get much credit for it. Then i decided to move out of ops and joined other project as strategy & insight- analyst and i did well there receiving accolades from client. Project got closed but i realised that I am good with complex data analysis and presentation of the same. I learned power bi and Microstrategy as well. But post that, i never got any suitable project and senior suggested me to learn developer/architecture of any BI tool because as per them that is what required apart from preparing dashboard. I am learning Microstrategy developer now but I have accepted L2 support role as I am not getting any suitable role. My question is ..after all this - What should i do now? What should i learn now to enter into my interest area ?
PS: I am from non-technical background and i have started leaning SQL.
Focus on your strengths in data analysis and presentation. Master SQL and MicroStrategy. Avoid L2 support roles; they won't leverage your skills. Seek roles that value your strategic insights.
Thanks @twotime , I am focusing on Power BI and SQL as I think Microstrategy is used in very few project (in TCS). But I don’t know what kind of role I should go for
Thanks @WellinformedVoting , i had interviewed once for pre-sales team and everything went well and they liked my slides which they gave to test me, but final round they said that one should have knowledge of all TCS products in detail to be fit for the role. But as you are suggesting, i can try for ultimatix content team ? Right ?
Better to get in touch with marketting team in ultimatix to leverage your skills as they might be preparing slides for customer and internal circulation your skills might be helpful give a try
