I have less than 3 hours of work
You read that right. I am working in Amazon in a non tech role. I have less than 3 hours of work a day. Alot of tenured people in my team have switched internally. I don’t have any other responsibilities. I’m also 2 pregnant. I initially wanted to work as hard as possible till my maternity leave so I can build a strong reason for promotion. But It’s bugging me that I don’t have enough work now. My manager doesn’t have new responsibilities for me which is totally understandable since they’re revamping the entire work that our team is supposed to do. I don't want to be put in PIP.
What should I do? Should I just hope for a miracle that I won't be fired till my maternity leave or just quit now itself...in which case it'll be incredibly hard for me to get another job since I'm pregnant

Why would they PIP you ? You joined the company to provide your service for the work they require you to do. And in turn they pay salary for it.
Did you sign in your agreement that "if you don't have any work you'll go wandering around asking for work ? And if you don't find any, you'll get PIPed or you'll quit on your own ?" I don't think so.
From a career POV, it's your call. Just don't stress yourself until your maternity leave begins. Every day is important till your babies are born. (Unless you are not happy with being pregnant and all that stuff).

I wish it were that straight forward ...I am scared that if I don't contribute as much as others on the team I'll definitely be put on PIP....a guy who started the same day as me was put on PIP just 4 months into the work :(
But I understand where you are coming from..I'll try to not take stress and just do the work I have for now

A company can’t put you in PIP in maternity leave infact no company can release from a project to employee on maternity leave

If you've informed them about mat, then I don't think they'll put you on PiP. So ensure you tell your manager and HRBP asap, followed by an email for the record. They also cannot fire you if you've informed them.
Your promotion will obv take a hit because that's how it sadly is.
Use this time to take care of your health, prep for mat leave.
Wish you the best.

They know you are pregnant and will definitely not be putting you on PIP. Take some time off and get back when you are ready. Best wishes for your motherhood..

Here’s the thing-
You’ve worked hard in your initial days and build a rapport with your seniors. They know you’re a good asset, else you’d have been in PIP long ago.
Based on your statement ‘’u manager doesn’t have new responsibilities’, sounds to me like you’ve already had a discussion with them and they informed you that they don’t have any work they can allocate to you at the moment.
If this was done verbally, I’d suggest put this on teams chat or an email where you mention you have additional bandwidth to take up new tasks and request them to assign them as and when they can. This will be evidence that you did keep your senior in loop and did seek out for work when you had a lean period.
In addition, a lot of companies have an UNWRITTEN RULE to not over burden to be moms, especially in their first trimester and last and these are high risk times. So maybe your team is just being supportive through your pregnancy period by adjusting work so that you feel comfortable and not stressed about work. As is they know you have your hands full with pregnancy. So, it could also be the case that you are blessed with a loving and supportive team.
I say this because two of my cousins got pregnant in the last 6 months.
Cousin 1 works with Accenture- as a company they have AMAZING policies and benefits around maternity. Her boss gave structure instruction to the team to not pull in my sister into any projects, meetings etc, until and unless it’s absolutely necessary. She will not be disturbed throughout this tenure no matter what. People shall work around her schedule, to ensure she has a stress free work life.
(She was a top performer in her team, so she did build that kinda trust with management that she will get her work done on time, hence her team supports her)
Cousin 2 - her boss literally hired a new team member to assist my sister. So now she can delegate her work to the new person, and she just needs to review their work and sign off. And no my sister is not at the risk of losing her job as this was a fixed term hire, and doesn’t have the same level of experience as my sister does, so this new employee is only here till my sister is back from her maternity leave.
So, I’d say… chill out. Perhaps your team is trying to reduce your work related stress, but you’re still stressed out over the nice gesture. 😋😋😋

There are strong legal protections for expecting and new mothers, and even small companies hesitate to go against them. So think about how a 6-hour workday can benefit you. For example, some years ago, DBOI Ltd. even provided healthy lunch and snack options for expecting mothers. So don’t worry about working just 3 hours—focus on your wellbeing, and you can even consider asking for a promotion.

Inform them of your maternity on email. They cannot PIP or fire you until after the maternity break.
It’s illegal to fire a woman who is pregnant provided the information is available in writing from the employee.

Just do your work slowly and keep giving the same updates. If they ask wasn't this done already, say that some parts were left and in return ask what tasks I can take up next. Keep up-skilling. Getting into PIP or being laid off should be your last concern, if it happens it's not something which you need to worry about and let it affect your pregnancy. If not this job, then some other job. You might lose some corporate benefits such as insurance, but if you have personal insurance then you need not be worried. Even your husband will have corporate insurance

Since you are 2 months pregnant, layoffs are anyways unlikely till December. Inform ur HR and manager about mat leave in December, to ensure that you don't get fired.
Since, you have time at your hand, keep reaching out to other teams and invest in upskilling yourself. At this point, you are anyways lined up for irrelevance. Enrol in some certification courses so that returning from mat leave is easier.

Quitting by yourself will be a stupidity.
If you have declared your pregnancy in the office they can't fire you till you are back from maternity leaves.
They can release you from project, they can bench you or not give any major responsibility but no pip no fire.
Chill and keep collecting pay checks
