Today was one of the toughest days at work. I completed three tasks, and while I acknowledge that there were some mistakes on my part, the reaction I received was completely disproportionate. My manager started shouting and made demeaning comments about my previous earnings, which felt incredibly demoralizing and unprofessional.
When I joined this company, I was hired as a writer. However, the CEO decided to replace my position with a digital marketing role, even though I’m very new to this field. I was given no choice but to accept this change, as I was essentially forced to choose between transitioning to digital marketing or leaving the company altogether. This left me in a difficult position, and I had to take on a role I wasn’t prepared for just to keep my job.
Despite this, I’ve been actively working to expand my skill set and contribute more effectively. However, the constant comparisons—like how much work they handle or how much they earn—have created a toxic atmosphere. It’s discouraging and counterproductive to the collaborative environment we should be fostering.
To make matters worse, Manthan, (Manager), often adds to this toxicity. His unnecessary criticism and condescending remarks make it difficult to maintain a positive and productive work dynamic. This kind of behavior not only affects my morale but also harms the overall team spirit.
During today’s meeting, I tried my best to stay calm and composed, but the situation escalated, and I felt overwhelmed. I finally spoke up for myself because I believe that constructive feedback and guidance are far more effective in helping someone grow.
I don’t know if I’ll still be in this company after this, but I’m proud that I stood up for myself.
Looking for WFH Opportunities
If any of you have referrals for work-from-home opportunities for a writer position, please consider referring me. I’m in need of a WFH role because my elder sister (who has epilepsy) and my mother (a diabetic patient) need me. I can’t leave them alone, and a remote job would allow me to support them while continuing my career.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
