Your YOE can decide.. also if you want switch company in future better stay in tech role so that you look for some good hikes.. if your planning to stay with TCS then you may look for such options.

Agree even though my thoughts are the same, instead of taking SDM role learn new technology like Quantum and Roar in IT industry

In long run for growth perspective and move to management roles becoming SDM would be recommended. If you enjoy staying an individual contributor and doing technical stuff and won't mind reporting to younger SDMs in future, stay in same role. To be honest I have seen SDMs with lower salaries than tech architects
