I got an offer letter!
Finally, after five years, I'm ready to leave this place in the past. I've gotten an offer letter from a company (yay! Congratulations to me ) and I'm yet to put resignation papers. Do you have any insights/tips/simalar experience to share?

Congratulations π !! The one mantra I have learned is "DEPENDENCY". Once you start playing the key role, you can bend the things in your favor.
It will be great if you can add few more details like your YoE, TCS CTC, new CTC etc.. for others to know the trend and motivation

Yess! You're so right.
I have all the plans to create dependency on me. But let's see how I fit in.
I got 5 yoe in TCS, also first employer. I was getting around 4.5 L (got B, A, C, C bands so far). The new company has offered 12L fixed plus 10% variable.

Thanks for sharing this.. It will be helpful for many. How I created dependency is by putting little extra efforts, observing existing key players and befriend them.. stay away from office politics amd never ever criticize anyone in new or previous company and lastly by working smarter. Marketing is also very important factor.
Enough of gyan.. don't forget to celebrate and gift something to yourself.

Tcs values your decisions and appreciate you for all your effort and hardwork which you provided to organization in the past years.
Good wishes on Your new role with new organization

Thank you, kind stranger :)

How much hike did you get and what role

About 200%, data analyst

Oh wow.. congratulations π

Hi ..I am completely into CRM ( marketing automation) - can u give some insights on the roadmap to Data Analyst

Well, you'd need to have basic understanding of cloud and data visualisation tools, python too. Amd very good/thorough understanding of SQL.
I have 5 yoe in SQL and good understanding of the rest, so I made it through.

Thanks & Congratulations

Watch season 1 of suits show to learn how to behave in a new job

Heh, this is interesting. I already have watched Suits though. I know what you're talking about. And tbh, damn right.

Rewatch season 1. Just amazing

Hey congratulations! How will you explain current job market situation from your point of view? Like how many applications did you made and how many call you got. Also is it good to switch now or wait for some time to settle the market?
Thanks!

+1

Hey! Thank you.
Tbh, I apply to jobs almost everyday on LinkedIn and Naukri and I barely got any call back. Whatsoever I did, they rejected because of long notice period.
Majority of the calls I got were when the recruiter themselves found my profile and reached out.
This one also is the case where recruiter reached out to me instead of me applying to their company.
I would say keep active profiles on portals, keep applying nonetheless, if you can, have a premium profile.
Whether or not you want to actually switch, keep trying. Don't wait for market. Companies are still hiring. You never know what great opportunity you might get. And it's not like you start applying and you get a job immediately, unless you're exceptionally good.
I've been trying to switch since last year. But just in time to get gratuity :)

Hi dude, congratulations on your new role! Please drop me some suggestions as I'm looking to transition my role as data analyst and trying to swich ASAP. Feel free to ping me. π

Hey, thanks!
Try and get good understanding of cloud technology, certification would help, any of the 3 (aws, azure, gcp). At least basic ones, see if your current employer can fund that. Also have some basic understanding of data visualisation tools (Power BI / Tableau). Python would be a plus. Thorough understanding of SQL is must.
Try to upskill in these and in parallel, keep applying

First 6 months, just give give give to the new org.
Establish yourself as a competent worker.
Then ask for stuff and can relax

Ask for stuff as in?

WLB, promotions, etc.

Is this your first switch ??

Yes, it is.

So use your first offer letter as a leverage and give interviews in other companies. You have 90 days.. too much time. Study more for first 60 days aftwe you resign and in the last month you will be able to join any company witj immediate or 1 month notice. I made this mistake when I did my first switch. Hope you don't do it :))

Once I accept the offer, can I still try and join any other company?

Yes ofcourse

This is brilliant
