If you are put in PIP by your project: You will be assigned additional tasks, which you need to complete apart from your BAU. Your performance will be monitored and based on that, you will be either retained (removed from PIP) or asked to resign.
It is better you start searching outside, as I have heard that PIPs usually end in employees leaving the organisation. Hope this helps.
