I feel I'm underpaid vs my impact
First year of brand marketing job for an early series, well funded fintech startup.
My previous (first) job had ₹45K (5.5LPA) in hand after a role upgrade, but for this job I had to move out of my city, use up all my emergency fund, have a LOT more expenses now and the in-hand came up to just ₹51K (6.5LPA + 1L bonus + esops)
Had no leverage at the time of signing so didn't say anything.
The real kicker? I was hired as part of a strat change that the founder pushed for, and my impact has been immediate and undeniable. Our metrics doubled within 6 months of me joining and we're a respected brand in our vertical.
I am doing gigs on the side to start rebuilding my emergency fund coz salary se barely kuch bachta hai.
I want a comp revision before the appraisal, but too nervous to ask for it.
Could use some advice or just tell me if I'm being a dumbass for having these expectations

It honestly depends on the kind of culture. Most likely you won't be getting a raise if you ask for it right now. I'd suggest taking the side gigs.

Is it too early since I've joined, is it the lack of xp? What do you believe is the reason I may not get it and how does culture have a play here?

Because it's only been 6 months since you joined.

If your manager is approachable, there’s no harm at all in having a chat with him. Worst case,he will know that you expect a substantial hike during your appraisal

If this is something that bothers you, speak with your manager frankly. Less as an entitlement, more as a performance plus situation based request.
Worst is that wont be approved, which is the situation today. He/She will keep in mind whenever next appraisal is due. Best case is, your performance based request might get approved. All the best.

Very helpful. Thank you! Another reason I feel compelled to ask is I feel people who spend way less time doing way less things are paid more than me, and that's extremely unfair.
