HRA in Tax declaration

What is the maximum amount we can declare for monthly rental.. last time declared 13k per month but they have considered only 7800k per month.. pls suggest

It is calculated as per HRA components and basic pay component. What ever is lesser in below condition

  1. HRA component
    2)40% of basic pay if you work in non metro or 50% of basic pay if you stay in metro
