HR Says No, Policy Says Yes – Who Do You Think Wins?
In TCS, every HR seems to have their own version of company policy—like a “Make Your Own Rules” game. The policy hub clearly states that a male employee can get WFO for a year just by submitting the child’s birth certificate. But my HR? Oh no, according to them, unless the child has medical complications or the mother is breastfeeding, WFO is just a dream. Guess TCS policies are more like suggestions than actual rules!

You can definitely avail the WFH for one year as per child care policy. I have availed the same just last year. If HR doesn't agree ask her for her escalation matrix and escalate. If doesn't work then raise grievance. You are bound to win. Do not let the HRs go easily. Show some guts and grab them by the neck. Technically if you are right, HR can not do anything to you. In TCS HRs are as powerless as they are clueless.

Yes , I had a call after having 6 month of WFH, by saying you are exhausted. Now I can not give you anymore.
But what!
Since I’m Policy reader , I caught her that she is bluffing, every time she bluffs i will say
“ I nowhere seen this words in policy”
Finally she said, okay you can avail.

HR cannot go against policies. Send email to HR asking them politely "Can you help me to understand where it's mentioned in policy? I could not find in policy what you have mentioned. As per policy, I am entitled for upto 1 year and upto 6 months in one request. Let me know if I am missing anything."

It's in benefits ~ flexible work. It clearly says the father should be primary caregiver. If wife is taking care then wife will be primary.

Mail with the policy to hr his supervisor and his supervisor fight until you get WFH if your baby is new born

Primary caregiver

Try to escalate it to the HR supervisor. Basically they don't take this request for the next level of approval. Which we are not aware of, so you better send out a follow up. If no response had their supervisor. That's how things work in TCS.

You can send this policy to HR and loop your DP. We have approved the same for my team member. Same HR denied, then I showed this policy to HR and it gets approved

Same is happening with me. HR is not deninig policy in writing. Just saying NO in call only.

But these WFO exceptions are not available for unallocated employees, that’s what i got to know from HR, true or no?
