HR community - Why do you ghost candidates?

HR folks, you deal with people’s careers. Their hopes. Their stability. Their families’ wellbeing. For many candidates, a job change isn’t just another checkbox—it’s one of the most sensitive and emotionally significant phases.

The question is why don't you close the loop?

Candidates are left anxious, confused, and second-guessing their own abilities.

They lose trust—not just in the company but in the hiring ecosystem overall.

A simple update—yes, no, or even “we need more time”—can make a massive difference. It shows respect. It reinforces transparency. It acknowledges the human being on the other side of the process.

As HR professionals, this is one of the most important responsibilities you hold. Because for a candidate, this isn’t just “one of the things they do”— this is the thing they are counting on.

Let’s build a culture where communication is non-negotiable, empathy is a default, and candidates walk away feeling respected—even if they don’t get the role.

You can, and you must, do better.

I think you missed a few adjectives, like "dumb f*ck"

Because dumb f*ck HRs are so dumb I don't know how they even secure their jobs.
