
HR asking current firm managers contact number
Recently I got offer from a comoany and HR of that company asked my current manager and TL contact number. I thought he is asking in case if I don't join there. But he actually contacted my manager and TL and asked about my strength and weakness. I feel like it's a red flag. But I accepted that offer because that projects seems interesting and there would be lots of learning.

You should have never given it. HRs are not as powerful as they project themselves. They are more like street dogs. They only bark sometimes when in a group they try to bite but if you have a stick , they will run away.
Never give individual contact numbers to HR. Tell them if they wish to verify they can call on the board number and speak to the HR there to find out about the candidate.
Even if they do, just like two stray dogs that keep barking at each other, both the HRs will keep barking at each other.
