How's a band assigned? Is it anyway related to IPF?

Old employees will have groups to support each others and not letting anyone else to grow. All in all the biggest informer will get biggest band. Be ready to take the peanuts if you are not them. And yes, all good things will happen only around them. All your deeds will be named on their achievements and you will be left for nothing. Every year or two you will be changing the projects and these types of people you get get every where within TCS.

Based on your ipf and your grade (like C1, C1Y, C2,etc) Band is given as per bell curve rule among all the associates of an account with the same grade.

You might have highest rating in your team but you may get a 'C' if others of same grade in different team have more rating than you. I am not sure if they compare at Account level or tower level(teams under a delivery manager) but they do compare with other teams for sure.

I was on LWP for 2 months jan and feb and currently on bench. I got D Band. Is it going to affect my salary?

IPF is your performance and no where related with bands. You will get Bands whatever your manager has given to HR.
