How to transition internally as Product Manager?

I’ve recently joined a company in Bangalore as a Category Manager. There’s an internal opening for a Product Manager role.

I know this space well and genuinely believe I can transition into product, but I’m not sure how to go about it.

I have an engineering + MBA background.

If Flipkart, they won't allow you. It's a very gated role for some reason. Only option is Product Studio. I had a referral from CTPO to other department to consider me for a product role but still I was told I'm not eligible (I have product experience in my current role)
