How to talk to RM for offer matching
Hi guys, I recently got an offer from a competitor. How should I start the conversation with my manager for matching the offer? I dont want to leave the current org but the current org is stalling my promotion and appraisal. Help a friend out with your views
You will get the opportunity to say that you are interested to continue so dont put that initially else you will loose the stand..
Later on when manager try to negotiate you can tell that i will he happy to continue if it can be matched
So what do you start with?
If in position..i will start with saying one of my previous manager / colleagues had approached me with an opportunity in xyz company with abc position and xxxxxx package. I would like to take the opportunity.
Then definitely he will check what can be done to retain you.. then gradually agree to discuss ..
You only go to negotiating table when you're ready to walk away.
- Tell the manager that you really like working with thebcitrent org
- You weren't looking out, someone reached out and you dipped your beak to just test
- They gave an offer, which what I should ideally get in the market.
- Would love if you can match the market rate
- Don't say you'll walk away. That is implicit
