How to start career in AI?

Hi, I am a backend software engineer, experienced in Java, Postgresql, elastic search and couchbase. I want to upskill myself and learn AI but there is some resistance because I am average in maths and I heard AI is a lot of maths.

My manager told me that I can't run away from this and I should learn and do specialization in AI because it is the talk of the town.

Guide me on how should I start and a complete plan to learn. I feel I have potential to learn and grow.
