Trending @Accenture; How to request roll-off from a project with high workload, no support, and outdated technology?
Hi everyone,
I’m currently working on a mainframe project and facing a lot of difficulties. As a fresher, I’m trying my best, but:
The technology is very old and hard to learn, and there are hardly any proper resources available.
The work pressure is extremely high — sometimes I’m working till midnight and even on weekends without prior notice.
There’s no proper guidance or help from team members, and instead, I’m often scolded for things I genuinely don’t know.
The environment feels toxic and unsupportive. Many seniors have already left the team, and the workload has fallen on juniors like me.
It’s affecting my health — I barely get time for breaks or lunch on some days.
I’ve tried multiple times to improve the situation, but nothing has changed. I want to request a roll-off from this project or at least a technology change that allows growth and learning.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? What’s the best way to raise this.
Please guide me — your suggestions would really help.
Thanks in advance!

Try to convince your manager stating that the skills that you possess doesn't fit for the work that you are doing and explain him that you wouldn't be able to contribute much to the team because of skill set mismatch of what you have and what team wants from you.

Resign and look another opportunity

I suggest you learn and switch, there are a good number of openings for mainframe

Exactly I'm in same situation and mainframe project which is completely irrelevant to my technology

Experienced the same situation and also I felt the same but later I realised that because of this I got great learnings - Mainframe Ops!!
