You can start by reading the abstract of the papers that excite you and if you feel that they are relevant to you, then you can move on to their conclusion as they generally contain a summary of the results and the methodology used. You would get more than 80% of the information you would need in these two sections. Move on to reading the entire papers for only those papers on whose methodology you want to improve or replicate.
